We welcome you to visit Mullen's Garage for all of your automotive maintenance and service needs.  We are a family business that has been operating in the same location since purchasing the business from John Mullen in 1975.  John founded the garage in 1939 and operated as Mullen's Garage until selling to then employee and current owner Wes Kirchner.
Starting out, we considered changing the name, but decided that since the garage was so well known in the area that it just made sense to keep it.  We pride ourselves on being honest, highly skilled and reliable, perpetuating the same values that John Mullen demanded.  We are NOT a quota shop.  Our mechanics and service advisor's pay is not commission based.  You may wonder why this is important to you.  A quota shop has a manager or corporate director who decides how much of a particular service or item that HAS to be sold in a week regardless if needed.  Mechanics and service advisors who are paid a commission of the work performed or sold will often try to sell you as much work as possible, lining their wallets at your expense.  We pride ourselves in maintaining and repairing vehicles in a way that will give you the most safety and reliability at the lowest cost.

About Us

 

Mullen's Garage was founded by John H. and Estelle Mullen in 1939.  John, while being an experienced mechanic working at Blanton Massey Ford in Post Oak, decided it was time to open his own repair shop.  The first shop was his home garage located behind his residence on Plank Road in Spotsylvania, Va.

The 576 sq.ft. single bay garage was used until a larger facility was constructed 23 years later.  The 1200 sq.ft. cinder block building housed three large bays and an in-ground lift and provided the room for Mr. Mullen to hire an assistant in 1968.  Wes Kirchner worked for John until purchasing the business in 1974.

 

As the years progressed this building proved too small for the continually growing business and expanding community surrounding it.  In 1998, a 5000 sq.ft. addition to the three bay shop was added to accommodate the steady increase in business.
